ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University English department and Ellensburg Arts Commission are sponsoring a free, public poetry reading by Nancy Eimers Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hal Holmes Center.

Eimers has authored two poetry collections: the 1991 work "Destroying Angel" and "No Moon," winner of the 1997 Purdue University Verna Emery Poetry Prize, from which she will read during her Ellensburg appearance.

In addition, Eimers has been the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing fellowships and a Whiting Writers' Award for "exceptional talent and promise" in 1998.

Her poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines, including Best American Poetry 1996, the New Bread Loaf Anthology of Contemporary American Poetry, Paris Review, Triquarterly, Field, Poetry Northwest and the 1999 issue of Black Warrior Review.

She teaches creative writing master of fine arts (MFA) and Ph.D. programs at Western Michigan University and the MFA program at Norwich University.
