ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Corky Fredricksen, payroll technician, and Sharon Parker, student employment office assistant, are this year's Central Washington University Civil Service Employee of the Year winners.
Fredricksen was credited with explaining thoroughly the process for correcting payroll and being a source of knowledge in her area. Parker is said to be a "true team member who is always willing to go the extra mile on behalf of students."
They were selected, from 12 monthly Employee of the Month honorees named between April 2000 and March 2001, during a recent vote of university civil service employees. It was the first tie vote in the four years the award has been presented.
The other monthly winners were: Geri Palmer, dining services; Myrna Antonich, college of arts and humanities; Karen Simmons, physical education, health education and leisure services; Lynn Linnell, computing and telecommunication services; Arturo Calzadillas, police services; Kevin Dawson, athletics; Michael Moeur, facilities management; Colleen Hall, facilities management; Ray Cedeno, police services; and James Lees, SeaTac Center.
CWU President Jerilyn S. McIntyre will present Fredricksen and Parker with their awards and checks for $750 during the university's spring honors convocation tomorrow (Friday, June 8).
CWU students, faculty and staff, as well as Ellensburg community members, are eligible to make nominations for the employee of the month. Nomination forms are available from the CWU human resources office and employee council representatives.
