May 1, 2001

Contact: Lana Jo Sharpe, CWU Orchesis director (509-963-1937/Nicholson Pavilion Dance Studio 509-963-1993)

Ellensburg, WA - Central Washington University's Orchesis Dance Company will present its annual spring concert May 3-6 in the Nicholson Pavilion Dance Studio on the Ellensburg campus. The spring show, "Dance Signatures" will feature an array of dance styles from modern to theatrical dance and hot jazz to cool blues.

"The theme of 'Dance Signatures' reflects the various styles and personal statements of the choreographers," Orchesis Director Lana Jo Sharpe says. "The showcase format has been very successful for us and we believe our audiences enjoy the differences in themes and styles within our concerts."

The 27-member company will perform 20 dances; nine by senior members of the company, three by Orchesis graduates and two by Therese Young of the CWU dance faculty.

The performances will begin each evening at 8:30 p.m. with doors opening at 8 p.m. Tickets, which are $7 for general admission and $4 for students and seniors, will be available at the door.

For more information about the concert, or for persons of disability to make arrangements for reasonable accommodations, call (509) 963-1937 or TDD (509) 963-3323 for the hearing impaired.
