CWU Spurgeon Gallery To Open 'Works On Paper' ExhibitOctober 3, 2005Contact: Horn Heather (509-963-3153/fax 509-963-1918/e-mail: heatherh@cwu.edu) ELLENSBURG , Wash. - The works of 19 artists from across Washington will go on display Oct. 8 in Central Washington University's Sarah Spurgeon Gallery, in an exhibition titled "CWU Intersections 2005: Works on Paper." To be displayed through Nov. 5, the invitational exhibition will feature nineteen a variety of art from traditional colored pencil and monotype prints to experimental sewn paper, paper jewelry and digital collage. "The exhibition presents a wide array of approaches to an expanding contemporary artform," says Heather Horn, Spurgeon gallery manager. "It will be the first of a series of exhibitions that encourages cultural and artistic exchange with artists from beyond the central Washington region." A free, public opening reception with the artists is planned for Friday, Oct. 7, from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Immediately following the reception, a panel discussion on "Contemporary Currents in Works on Paper," will be held in Randall 117. Brian Goeltzenleuchter, CWU professor of painting and drawing, will moderate it. At the discussion, four artists will show slides and discuss their artwork. They are:
