ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University's Classic
Film Series continues with “Life on a String,” a 1991 drama from China
that will be screened Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in McConnell Auditorium.
The story is of a blind boy who is promised by his mentor
that he will eventually regain his sight if he devotes his life to
music. The boy becomes a blind old man who regards music as a path to
higher truth.
Director Kaige Chen won the Golden Tulip award for this film
at the 1992 Istanbul International Film Festival. The 110-minute film
in Mandarin has English subtitles.
Tickets for each feature in the CWU Classic Film Series are
$3 for single admission, and $12 for a bargain pass of five admissions.
Single admission tickets are available at the door. Bargain passes
are available at the Samuelson Union Building (SUB) Information Booth,
CWU English department and Jerrol’s.
