ELLENSBURG, Wash. - If you are a person who likes to express
yourself, have fun and meet new friends, “Salsa Caliente” is the
perfect event for you.
Central Washington University’s Orchesis Dance Company will
host a salsa-dancing workshop on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
in the Nicholson Pavilion Dance Studio. Howard and Marisa (who go by
their first names only), the directors of Seattle-based Salsa
Caliente!, will lead the workshop.
Along with being active promoters of Latin music and dance
throughout the Pacific Northwest, Howard and Marisa have been teaching
together for nine years and currently hold regular classes and
workshops in the Puget Sound area.
They teach several levels of salsa and is among a limited number of
instructors in Seattle to offer New York style. Regardless of skill
level, they have been quoted as saying they believe anyone can learn to
dance, given time, commitment and a little patience.
Singles, couples and groups may attend. Comfortable shoes
with clean soles are required, but experience is not. The cost is $30
for the general public or $25 for those with CWU identification. For
more information, or for persons of disability to arrange for
reasonable accommodation, call (509) 963-1937 or (for the hearing
impaired) TDD (509) 963-3323.
