ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University is expecting more than 650 high school and community college students, their families and friends on campus Saturday, Oct. 23, for the university's annual Open House.

University faculty, staff and students will showcase academic opportunities and campus programs for prospective CWU students, their parents and guests from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Ellensburg campus.

"We know that many students choose to come here as a direct result of visiting our Ellensburg campus, so this event is designed specifically to allow students - who otherwise may not be able to do so - to visit," Mike Reilly, CWU associate vice president for enrollment services, says. "This is a wonderful opportunity for students and their parents to learn more about Central."

Prospective students, parents and guests will also be able tour the campus and residence halls, meet with representatives from academic and student service departments, and attend breakout sessions on topics such as financial aid.

Those who like what they see and hear can apply to Central during the event. Students may also register for door prizes.

Overnight accommodations are available at Courson Conference Center. To make reservations for an overnight stay, call (800) 752-4379.

For more information about the CWU Open House, call 1-866-CWU-4YOU (866-298-4968), or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143. On the Web, information is available at www.cwu.edu/~cwuadmis/open-house.html.
