Natural Science Seminar Series Underway at CWU

October 18, 2007

ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Central Washington University's Natural Science Seminar Series presented by the Department of Biological Sciences is underway with the next presentation scheduled for Friday, October 19, 2007 at 4 p.m. in the Science Building room 147. Join Dr. Steven Wagner, CWU biological sciences associate professor, as he presents his lecture, "Living with Dyaks and Orangutans: Catching Kodok (Frogs) of Borneo," based off his recent trip to China and Borneo.

"This seminar is beneficial to anyone interested in the fascinating topic of biodiversity, particularly in the times when so many species are imperiled," says Dr. Daniel Beck, professor of biological science and series coordinator. "Students of today are the ones inheriting the challenges of creating a sustainable future, so they would particularly benefit."

The series continues on a bi-weekly basis on Fridays in the Science Building room 147. Each seminar begins with refreshments and is followed by a discussion on the topic covered. The next presentation, "Barcoding Life: Using DNA to Track Killers and Helpers," presented by Dr. James Johnson, CWU Department of Biological Sciences, is Friday, November 2, 2007.
