On Sunday, Nov. 13, the Central Washington University music faculty presents a concert titled "Remembrances." The next in the Second Sunday Faculty Recital series, it will be held at 4 p.m. in the music building concert hall.

"This program will focus on memories of past people, places and events that have proven to be important," say Hal Ott, series coordinator, "and it will reflect upon and celebrate significant people who are missing from our daily lives. Flutist Erin Klotz and former Central trumpet professor Tom Gause will be among those remembered."

Faculty soloists and ensembles including the Kairos Quartet will perform. Musical styles from jazz to classical will be represented, and two new compositions by faculty members Mark Goodenberger and Jeffrey Snedeker will debut.

Preceding the concert will be a 2 p.m. performance in the music building recital hall, followed by a reception in the music building lobby, dedicated specifically to the memory of Klotz. It will feature solo and ensemble flute music performed by members of the CWU flute choir. Klotz, a CWU flute major and an aspiring musicologist, died in 2001 on westbound I-90 when the car in which she was riding was hit head on by a car traveling in the wrong direction on the freeway.

A strong student and talented musician, Klotz, a 1999 Kamiakin High School graduate, had earned a full scholarship to Central, where she was a Douglas Honors College student.
