ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- The first airing of a new television program focused on Central Washington University, "Inside Central" will premiere this weekend on Ellensburg Community Television (ECTV) Channel 2. It will be shown at 8 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-9.

"Inside Central" is a "behind-the-scenes" look at CWU, according to producer Rick Spencer, from the newly-named CWU division of multimedia, instructional and technology support.

"It's designed to inform, entertain and involve the Ellensburg and campus communities," Spencer adds. "Each show will feature academics, athletics and an arts, theatre, or music segment."

The inaugural show will include an interview with Dr. Holly Pinkart about her microbiology research project at Soap Lake, an exclusive look at the recent "Battle in Seattle" football game between CWU and Western Washington University and a segment about the work being done by the CWU theatre and music departments to stage the musical "West Side Story" in Ellensburg.

Future segments will include a tour of the Open Spaces Technology Center (OSTC) "mobile technology classroom," a performance from the CWU wind ensemble and student athlete features.

Following the debut weekend schedule, the program will be rebroadcast every other weekend through the end of the 2003-04 academic year.
