CWU "EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING" AWARDS TO BE GIVEN FRIDAYOctober 31, 2006 ELLENSBURG,Four Central Washington University professors - Drs. Mike Ervin, history; Graeme Coetzer, management; Amy Hoover, aviation; and Andrew Downs, psychology - will be honored Friday, Nov. 3, with "Excellence in Teaching Awards" from the CWU Alumni Association. To be eligible, nominees must have demonstrated a high level of success in teaching and advising, and have been a non-tenured, full-time faculty member at CWU for five years or less. "These awards honor the best young faculty at Central," said Jim Armstrong, interim director of Alumni Relations. "Each of these recipients represents excellence in the most important mission of any university, teaching." The free, public awards presentation is scheduled for noon in the Sue Lombard Room. Each year, the Alumni Association selects an "Excellence in Teaching Award" recipient from each of CWU's four academic divisions.
