CWU Remembers Will GarnichNovember 10, 2003Contact: Robert Lowery (509-963-1487/fax 509-963-2301/e-mail: loweryr@cwu.edu)ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Will Garnich III, 74, passed away Monday, Nov. 3 at Royal Vista Care Center in Ellensburg. He served as a systems analyst/programmer in the computer support services (CSS) department at Central Washington University from 1971 until his retirement in 1994. "Will brought a different perspective to programming as he came from an engineering background," Dave Storla, CSS assistant director, says. A native of Rhinelander, Wis., he earned a degree as a mining engineer from Michigan Technical University in 1951. Garnich worked in a variety of mining-related jobs in Ohio, Nevada, Michigan and Minnesota before moving to Washington. Before he was hired at CWU, Garnich worked for the Grant County Public Utility District. He is survived by his wife, Flo, of Ellensburg, three sons, a daughter, nine grandchildren and two sisters. Honoring his wishes, there will be no public service for Garnich. Memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army or charity of choice. |
