CWU Governing Board To Tour New Recreation Center

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University board of trustees (BOT) will tour the Student Union and Recreation Center construction site at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6.

They will also attend a "topping off" ceremony with university officials, the facilities project committee and other invited guests, including Lydig Construction, at 11:30 a.m. on the Ellensburg campus.

The "topping off" ceremony signifies the completion of the building's steel superstructure and marks a significant milestone in the project's construction. The final skeletal component will be painted and signed by event participants and then raised into place.

The board's afternoon, regularly scheduled meeting agenda includes discussions of a legislative update, a proposed fiscal year 2006 operations budget, proposed 2005-07 operating and capital biennial budgets, a services and activities fees biennial budget, proposed quarterly tuition and fees, an auxiliary services business plan and the state auditor's report for July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.

Other discussion items of note include changes to the educational benefits policy, the civil service reform policy and the substance use/drug policy.

The trustees begin their agenda on Thursday, May 5, with dinner at President Jerilyn S. McIntyre's residence in Ellensburg.
