ELLENSBURG, Wash. - “The Pale,” one of the Pacific
Northwest’s hottest bands, has added an Ellensburg tour date.
Thursday, May 8, at 7 p.m. the band will perform at Club Central in the
Samuelson Union Building (SUB) on the Central Washington University
campus.
The Pale, whose third album, “Gravity Gets Things Done,” hit
No. 1 on the charts at some of Seattle’s top radio stations, hail from
Bellingham, the home of fellow independent rock music (indie rock)
favorites “Death Cab for Cutie.” Though the group’s sound has been
compared to the melody-drive power pop of “Death Cab,” “The Pale” have
managed to find their own voice -- a fact that has been reaffirmed by
their growing success.
Not only is their album one of the best sellers west of the
Cascades, they have opened for the likes of Brit-pop darlings
“Supergrass,” rock band “Evanescence” and will play at the Gorge’s
Sasquatch! Festival alongside “Coldplay,” “The Flaming Lips” and
“Jurassic 5.”
Their music is exactly what indie rock should be: immediately
catchy, joyous, yet original. Their latest album has proven to critics
and music lovers alike that this is a band to be reckoned with.
Similarly destined for success are the two bands opening for
The Pale; the rock/punk band “Zero to 6” and Ellensburg’s own
up-and-coming “Crustaceans.”
With their tight riff-driven rock, “Zero to 6” has developed
a following throughout Washington. Their debut album was co-produced
and engineered by Cameron Nicklaus of the Pale, and “Zero to 6” members
have played with “The Pale.” The Crustaceans will fill the bill with
epic indie rock in the vein of “Built to Spill.”
Tickets are available at Jerrols Bookstore, Rodeo Records and
Ticketmaster in the SUB. They are $4 for students, $5 general
admission and at the door.
