ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Brass ensembles of all shapes and sizes
will join forces for the second annual Central Washington University
“Brass Blow-Out” Tuesday, May 27. The free, public performance is
slated for 8 p.m. in Hertz Auditorium on the Ellensburg campus.
It will feature several of CWU's award-winning groups: the
CWU brass choir, horn ensemble, trumpet choir and trombone choir,
performing a full range of music from Renaissance to Jazz.
“Each ensemble will bring its special sounds and personality
to the program,” Jeffrey Snedeker, CWU music professor and performance
coordinator, says.
There will be original works for brass, works arranged by
students and the premiere of “BrsChr,” which tells the history of
brass ensembles in a fashion similar to Tom Stoppard’s 15-minute
Hamlet, billed as “a play about love, death and the meaning of life.
Just like Hamlet. Just a bit faster.”
Snedeker adds, “It promises to be an extremely fun and
energized evening of music.”
