CWU CEL to Host Annual Evening of Recognition

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University Center for Excellence in Leadership will host its 8th annual Evening of Recognition Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building Ballroom on the Ellensburg campus.

The invitation only event is designed to acknowledge students, faculty and staff from around the Central's campus for their individual and group accomplishments.

A variety of awards will also be presented at the event. They will include the:

• Student of the Year Award, which goes to a student who has displayed an exceptional attitude while providing service to others, being involved in clubs, organizations, departments and demonstrating dedication to community-based service;
• Dorothy Purser Award, for a student athlete who demonstrates personal growth, inspires tradition, upholds high standards and embodies the "team before self" concept;
• Most Inspirational Faculty Member Award, for his or her dedication to students, faculty, staff and the CWU administration, and who has also had a positive impact on the university through interaction with students outside of the classroom; and
• Campus Collaboration Award, which goes to two or more recognized student organizations that collaborated on planning and execution of a project or event that brought a larger cross-section of campus together.
