ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Ed Snyder, Central Washington University facilities management project coordinator, has received the Washington State Productivity Board “Extra Mile” award. Snyder was one of just 10 individuals statewide, out of more than 270 nominated, to receive the award, distributed in conjunction with Public Service Recognition Week 2002.
The award is designed to honor a person or group that surpasses expectations for exemplary service, including consistently productive job performance, a positive attitude, an exemplary work ethic and high personal standards.
In addition, Snyder has been named the university’s 2002 Civil Service Employee of the Year.
He was recognized for ensuring campus safety through inspections and drawing review, and suggesting revisions to the campus design standards that have increased CWU safety and protection for university assets.
Snyder was also acknowledged for his community service, including through organizing a benefit dinner and dance to help defray the medical expenses for critically ill staff member Lori Chandler, and for the New York Relief Fund, where he secured the financing and arranged for purchasing needed safety equipment to send to New York City relief workers.
Snyder will be officially honored as the university’s Civil Service Employee of the Year and receive $1,500 during the university’s honors convocation Friday, June 7.
