CWU Names Student Employee Of The Year

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Catherine Patchett has been selected as Central Washington University's 2005 Student Employee of the Year. Patchett, 22, was nominated by Jan Case, program assistant to the dean of the CWU college of education and professional studies (CEPS).

"I haven't seen a more outstanding student employee in the 12 years I have been employed by Central," said Case. "I couldn't have done it without her. She's amazing." Numerous letters of support accompanied Case's nomination from others in the CEPS office of field experiences, which works with more than 500 student teachers and others teacher education majors annually.

Patchett, a 2001 graduate of Vale (Oregon) High School, is the daughter of David and Helen Patchett.

Patchett will also be formally recognized as Student Employee of the Year at the CWU Center for Excellence 8th Annual Evening of Recognition Wednesday, May 25, at 7 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building Ballroom.

The event acknowledges unique students, faculty, and staff from around the Central's campus for their accomplishments as an individual or as a group.

She has excelled both on the job and in the classroom during the four years she has worked for CEPS. Patchett will graduate this spring summa cum laude, with a 3.925 grade point average (GPA), when she receives her bachelor's degree in business administration.

Her GPA is in the top 1 percent of the college of business, which also qualifies Patchett to be listed as a CWU President's Scholar. She will be honored for that achievement at the CWU Honors Convocation Friday, June 10, at 8 p.m. in McConnell Auditorium.
