CWU Offers Summer Childcare Programs

ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- As the weather grows warmer and the days grow longer, Central Washington University students, faculty and staff with children are most likely dealing with the issue of childcare for the summer.

In response, two special programs are being offered on the CWU campus this summer, to which children of university students, faculty and staff, as well as the Ellensburg community, will be admitted on a space-available basis.

The newly-remodeled Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) is able to provide more space and expanded service for 2-8 year olds. ECLC features a low teacher-to-child ratio, separate classrooms for different age groups, along with learning centers specifically designed for young children.

ECLC hours of operation are 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., June 21 to Aug. 20. Additional weeks are available, if needed, June 14 to 19 and Aug. 23 to Sept. 3. For more information about the ECLC summer program, call (509) 963-1744, or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143.

Kids-N-Things summer day camp is a recreational and educational program offered by University Recreation for children grades K-5. Central students are employed in the positions of coordinator and camp counselors. The staff works together to provide a fun and safe environment for all participants.

Kids-N-Things offers activities two-days-a-week in arts-and-crafts, music, drama and sports, as well as special events, theme days, field trips and swimming.
