YAKIMA, Wash. - Yakima Valley Community College, Central Washington University and Washington State University will host two public information meetings on Wednesday, May 29, to discuss plans for revised and enhanced academic programs to be offered at the Yakima Valley Higher Education Center beginning fall 2003.
The public meetings will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. in the YVCC HUB, Yakima Campus, 16th and Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima.
“There are many community members who have specific questions about what programs will be offered,” said Dr. Linda Kaminski, YVCC president. “We hope these meetings will help prospective students make good decisions about their future academic careers.”
Officials from YVCC, CWU and WSU will be available to answer questions about the Higher Education Center and will update the community on timelines associated with the building’s construction progress.
Collaboration between the three institutions makes it possible for place-bound students to earn baccalaureate and master’s degrees through CWU and WSU, in addition to associate’s degrees already granted through YVCC.
Advantages of the approximately 60,000 square-foot facility include optimal utilization of space and a coordination of unduplicated services between the three institutions. The center will include classrooms, computer labs, videoconference rooms, student support services, offices and additional parking spaces. The Higher Education Center is expected to open by late summer 2003.
