ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University senior center Rose Shaw (Bellevue-Interlake), the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, was named to the Daktronics, Inc., All-West Region Women's Basketball first team.
Shaw, honored by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Monday as its Player of the Year, finished her final year as a Wildcat second in the league in scoring (17.4 avg.) and field goal percentage (.563), third in steals (2.38per game) and sixth in rebounds (8.2 avg.). She scored 1,696 points and grabbed 790 rebounds during her career.
"It is a great honor for Rose to finish her career on," Central head coach Jeff Whitney said.
Shaw was the lone first-team selection from the GNAC, which placed Kelley Berglund, Seattle Pacific; Bell Jordan, Alaska Anchorage; and Heather Laats, Western Oregon, on the second team.
The Wildcats finished with a 20-6 overall record, their second consecutive 20-win season, and tied for second place in the conference with a 14-4 mark.
