ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University basketball standout Justin Thompson (Sr., Chehalis-W.F.West/Lower Columbia) was chosen to the second team of the Daktronics/CoSIDA NCAA Division II All-West Region squad. He was also named a Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team all-star.
JT, a two-year letter winner, finished the 2001-02 campaign third in the conference in scoring (19.9.avg), fourth in steals (1.84 per game) tied for fourth in defensive rebound average (5.0 per game), fifth in three-point percentage (.438) and ninth in rebounding (6.9 avg.). He also ranked 11th in blocked shots (.72 per game) and 13th in field goal percentage (.515).
Thompson, the 18th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau, scored double-figure points in 47 of his last 48 Wildcat games.
Central, which won six of its final seven contests, concluded its season in fourth place in the GNAC with a 9-9 conference record and 16-10 mark overall.
