ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Howard Page, Central Washington
University maintenance mechanics lead, passed away Tuesday, March 25,
at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
An Ellensburg native, Page, 58, joined the school’s
facilities management department in 1985. Prior to that, he worked as
a carpenter, through Carpenters Union Local 770, and at Roseburg
(Oregon) Lumber.
A 1963 graduate of Ellensburg High School, Page had a
lifelong interest in community service. Those activities included
volunteer work with the Nanum Grange and Kittitas County Fair, along
with service as a member of the fair’s board of directors. He also
served as a volunteer first responder with the West Side Fire District.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, two children, three
grandchildren, two brothers, a sister and his mother.
Services for Page will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 28) at
10 a.m., at the German Baptist Church at 231 Tozer Road (off Thrall
Road). For his burial at High Valley Cemetery, Page will be
transported by fire truck through downtown Ellensburg as a way to honor
his years of volunteer service.
A viewing is being held at the Page home, at 3640 Hanson
Road, through 6 p.m. tonight.
The family requests memorials are made to Ellensburg Life
Support or to a fund being established in honor of his dedication to
his Kittitas Valley heritage and his interest in preserving the
environment, to be known as “High Valley Renewal Fund.”
