News and Headlines : Den Boer Adds Pair of All-Region Team Honors

Wildcats' Junior Named to Daktronics, NABC All-Star Teams

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University junior Lance Den Boer (Sunnyside, Wash./Sunnyside Christian HS) has been named to a pair of NCAA Division II West Region all-region teams, announced Monday. Den Boer has been selected to the all-region second team by both Daktronics and by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Den Boer averaged 20.6 points per game and helped lead the Wildcats (15-13) to the NCAA Division II tournament for the first time since 2001. He ranked second in the nation in free throw shooting (92.8 percent) and became the first CWU player since 1997-98 to finish the season averaging better than 20 points per game. In addition, the 6-foot-6 Den Boer led Central Washington in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Den Boer received second team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference accolades earlier this month, and has been selected to a pair of academic squads as well. Carrying a 3.60 grade-point average in school health education, Den Boer was an Academic All-GNAC choice and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII College Division Second Team this season.

Central Washington finished in a tie for fourth place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this past winter and was one of five teams from the GNAC to qualify for the eight-team NCAA Division II West Regional. The Wildcats lose just four seniors to graduation - two of which were starters - from their 2005-06 squad.
