Area Dancers Get a Chance to Learn from the Very Best

CWU Brings World Renowned Dance Company to Ellensburg

Ellensburg, Wash. - World famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre will bring its spirit, energy and passion for dance to Central Washington University and the Ellensburg community as part of CWU's Performing Arts and Presidential Speaker Series on March 6. Ailey II dancers are considered to be some of the most outstanding emerging choreographers of today.

What Alvin Ailey began in 1974 as a workshop composed of his school's most promising scholarship students quickly grew into Ailey II as we know it today - one of the most popular dance companies in the United States.

Ailey II combines a rigorous touring schedule with extensive community outreach programs. While in Ellensburg, Ailey II dancers will hold Master Classes for aspiring dancers on Monday, March 5. Classes are from 1-2:30 p.m., 3:30-5 p.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. in the Nicholson Pavilion Dance Studio. Space is limited and registration is recommended. Cost for each class is $25 per person. Tickets are still available for the Ailey II performance on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in McConnell Auditorium. Reserved seats are $45, general admission is $35 and students with I.D. are $20.
