Expect it. Own it. Learn to use it," says Naomi Wolf, best selling author and co-founder of the Woodhull Institute. Wolf will discuss ethical leadership during a free, public presentation at Central Washington University on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building (SUB) Ballroom. "Her lecture promises to challenge our entire community to examine leadership from an ethical perspective," says CWU President Jerilyn S. McIntyre. Titled "Changemakers: Ethical Leadership and Real Power," Wolf will discuss conflict resolution, the appropriate use of power and her views on pervasive societal inequities. A Yale graduate and former Rhodes Scholar, Wolf has been named one of TIME magazine's 50 most notable leaders under age 40. Her books, on various aspects of the experiences of women in America, have been international bestsellers. The list includes "The Beauty Myth," which challenged unrealistic standards of beauty. The New York Times called it one of the most important books of the 20th century. In conjunction with her CWU appearance, a question-and-and answer period will follow the lecture and the University Bookstore will host a book signing immediately after the event on the 2nd floor mezzanine outside the SUB Ballroom. Organizations that contributed to bringing Wolf to campus are the CWU office of the president, vice presidents for university relations, and student affairs and enrollment management, deans of the college of arts and humanities, education and professional studies, business, and the sciences; centers for student empowerment, excellence in leadership, and diversity education, offices for equal opportunity, university housing and new student programs, campus life and status of women commission.
