Celebration Of Life Ceremony For Patt Haley

March 11, 2008

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Longtime Central Washington University employee Patricia "Patt" Haley, 69, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. Patt had been battling an infection, pneumonia and then had a heart attack. Patt's career at Central began in 1972 as an administrative secretary for the dean of students. Throughout her 36- year career at Central, Patt held various titles, but she always stayed within Central's division of student affairs. In her final role at CWU, Patt served as the administrative assistant to Charlotte Tullos, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management.

"Patt was so loyal, knowledgeable, helpful-such a wonderful person for CWU for so many years," said Tullos. "I will miss her wise counsel, her smile and her assistance in every phase of our office. This is truly a sad time for student affairs and enrollment management, and the entire campus."

Born and raised in Gig Harbor, Wash., Patt graduated from Peninsula High School and married her husband of more than 50 years, Donald J. Haley. While working at Central, Patt attended classes for two years. Along with growing prize-winning roses, Pat was also a great cook, enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her family.

Patt is survived by her husband, Donald; sons, Timothy and Sean; grandchildren, Dominic, Dakota and Ethan; numerous relatives and many pets.

Please bring stories of your memories of Patt to share at a Celebration of Life ceremony in her honor Friday, March 14, 2008, at CWU in the Sue Lombard Dining Hall from 4-6 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Vaughn Bay Cemetery in Vaughn, Wash., near Gig Harbor.
