ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The 1989 Hong Kong action film “The Killer” will be the final presentation in Central Washington University’s winter quarter classic film series. It will be screened Tuesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in McConnell Auditorium.
The movie is the story of an assassin who agrees to one last job before he retires to pay for an operation to restore the eyesight of a beautiful cabaret singer who accidentally wandered into the line of fire during his last job. Betrayed by those who hired him, he then joins forces with the policeman who is pursuing him.
John Woo, regarded as a master in ultra-violent gangster films and thrillers, directed the film. “The Killer” was the film that established his cult following in the U.S. He also directed the 1996 film “Broken Arrow” and “Mission Impossible II” in 2000.
“The Killer,” which is unrated, is in Chinese with subtitles. For more information, or for persons of disability to arrange for reasonable accommodation, call (509) 963-1691, or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-3323.
