CWU Names New Director Of Testing And Assessment

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Dr. Tom Henderson will officially take over as Central Washington University's director of testing and assessment on Aug. 1. Currently, he is the assessment coordinator for the Washington State University Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology.

His areas of expertise include in the design and analysis of online surveys, cost analysis of educational technologies and formative assessment of educational processes. At WSU, Henderson has led its institution-wide ePortfolio project and both qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches to assessment and evaluation.

Henderson's scholarly contributions include publications in "Educational Technology and Society," "Planning for Higher Education" and "Journal of Education Computing Research."

He is a professional member of the "Activity-Based Costing Benchmarking Association," "American Association for Higher Education," "American Educational Research Association," "American Society for Quality" and "Consortium for Higher Education Benchmarking Analysis."

Henderson has also developed and taught college-level decision science courses and, in the private sector, served as manager of special projects and as a certified public accountant.

He received his Ph.D. in 1999 from WSU in its individual interdisciplinary degree program, Master of Business Administration in finance in 1981 from the University of Washington and Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1975 from the University of Idaho.
