CWU SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT GRADUATES NAMED

June 27, 2002

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The cost to supply goods and services has substantially changed in recent years, with the emphasis shifting from labor to materials. More suppliers are being treated as partners, requiring managers to have a new set of negotiating skills, knowledge of "just-in-time" processes and awareness of the need for continuous quality improvement.

At the urging of industry leaders to meet the need for professionals in the field, Central Washington University developed and offers a program to prepare students in supply chain management.

The students listed below are among the first graduates of CWU's supply chain management professional certification program at the university's eastern Washington locations in Ellensburg, Moses Lake, Wenatchee and Yakima.

They received the certificate in conjunction with CWU's 111th graduation ceremony Saturday, June 8, in Ellensburg.

The CWU program, endorsed by firms including The Boeing Co., Microsoft, Puget Sound Energy and Weyerhaeuser, is also offered at the university's western Washington centers at Lynnwood and SeaTac.
