CWU brings New Degree to University Center at Everett Community CollegeEVERETT, Wash. - An agreement between Central Washington University President Jerilyn S. McIntyre and Everett Community College President David Beyer brings the first CWU degree program to Everett. The agreement allows CWU to offer its full Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology and Administrative Management degree at the University Center of North Puget Sound in Everett this fall. EvCC is the legislatively appointed manager of the University Center. "It´s an exciting day when we can bring students of this community one more option for earning a bachelor´s degree," said CWU President Jerilyn S. McIntyre. "Giving students an opportunity to complete all the baccalaureate degree requirements in their own community through our ´2 plus 2´ partnership model with community colleges is a very agile way to respond to the needs and demands of today´s students and the communities in which they live and work." The program is for information technology professionals who have a two-year degree and related work experience. To help meet the needs of students who are working as they earn their degree, classes are offered evenings and on weekends, "Since my EvCC graduation in 1999, I´ve been waiting for a program like this one to come along," said ITAM student Katie Duke. "It´s conveniently located, and I love the connection between the Des Moines, Lynnwood and Everett locations." Several of the program´s classes were offered this past spring at University Center at Everett Station. The full degree program begins September 2007. "Bringing a wide range of bachelor´s degree options to Snohomish County is a top priority for the University Center," EvCC President David Beyer said. "We´re pleased to partner with Central to offer this degree." For more information about the program or how to apply, call 425-252-9505 or visit http://uceverett.org. University Center at Everett Station offers classes from five state universities. Programs include degrees and certificates on the undergraduate and graduate levels. The center was founded in 1997 to expand higher education opportunities for Snohomish, Skagit and Island counties.
