CWU Center for Excellence in Leadership Announces Leadership Transcript

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - During a student's college career, he or she may spend numerous hours volunteering for good causes, student clubs and other service projects. Many wonder how to best present those extra activities and co-curricular involvement to future employers or other prospective universities. One way is through the Leadership Transcript, now being offered through Central Washington University's Center for Excellence in Leadership (CEL).

The Leadership Transcript is a new tool which allows students to document their co-curricular involvement. It is a dynamic resume supplement that informs potential employers and graduate schools of a student's commitment to developing personal leadership skills.

"This is an innovative effort to help Central students make the most of their college experience," says Jennifer Fountain, CEL director. "It's meant to supplement graduate school and scholarship applications, accompany employment applications and serve as an identifier of current skills and experience."

Similar to the way Registrar Services compiles grades, the Leadership Transcript chronicles a student's activities outside of the classroom. The free, voluntary program archives workshops students have completed, other service projects, organizational memberships and leadership positions held while at CWU.

"It can also help students make informed choices about how they spend their time outside of class," Fountain notes. "It's simple and it's fast!"
