CWU To Offer Class On Holiday Wines And Treats

ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Central Washington University's office of continuing education, in conjunction with Pearl's on Pearl Wine Bar and Bistro, will sponsor a class on unique wines and holiday traditions of the region.

"Holiday Wines and Treats" will be offered Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Pearl's on Pearl, 311 N. Pearl St., Ellensburg. Participants will learn about wine gift ideas for the holidays and will receive a variety of home recipes, including:

  • Blanquette de Limoux Sparkling Wine with crab puffs;
  • Warm mulled red wine with spicy party mix;
  • Trimbach Alsace Riesling with specialty cheeses; and,
  • Chocolate Port paired with chocolate decadence.

Amy Mumma, the principal instructor and curriculum coordinator for the CWU Wine Trade Professional Certificate Program, will lead the class along with Cinda Kohler, Pearl's on Pearl executive chef.

Mumma is also a candidate in the international Master of Wine program and holds the Advanced Certificate from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London as well as the Diploma of Tasting from the Universite de Bourgogne in Dijon, France.
