Central Theatre Ensemble To Present Original Plays

ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- The Central Theatre Ensemble at Central Washington University will present the first production of its Off-Center season, "TENS: Original 10-Minute Plays."

Performances of the plays, written and directed by CWU students, will take place Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. and Dec 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. The same six plays will be shown at each performance.

"These short plays grew out of the playwriting class," says Wesley Van Tassel, playwriting professor and one-act producer. "The program has grown so much, students are getting recognition in regional and national competitions now."

Similar to the Betty Evans Original One-Act Festival, which will be held in June, the "TENS: Original 10-Minute Plays" explores a range of topics and styles, this year featuring everything from a custody battle over a duck to a satirical look at the political correctness of being left-handed.

Tickets for "TENS: Original 10-Minute Plays," are available at the door one hour prior to each performance at the Milo Smith Tower Theatre box office. All seats are $5 for all performances.

Though subject matter varies, the plays are generally intended for mature audiences. For the enjoyment of all patrons, no babies in arms or small children will be admitted to this production.
