'New Views On Mass Extinctions' Explored In CWU Geology SeminarDecember 1, 2004Contact: Molly Fortin (509-963-1493/fax 509-963-2301/e-mail: fortinm@cwu.edu) ELLENSBURG, Wash. - You have probably heard about the mass extinction that killed half of all life forms, including the last of the dinosaurs, 66 million years ago. Many theories about its cause, ranging from disease to climactic changes to an asteroid collision, have been argued. Dr. Peter Ward, University of Washington professor of earth and space sciences, has uncovered new ideas about the controversial topic of mass extinctions. Ward will discuss his research during the next Central Washington University geological sciences seminar, in a presentation titled, "New Views on Mass Extinctions." The free, public lecture will be held Friday, Dec. 3, at noon in Black 150. For more information about the CWU geological sciences seminar series, or for persons of disability to arrange for reasonable accommodation, call (509) 963-2702, or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143. |
