News and Headlines : CWU Student Filmmaker Explores Dreams |
CWU Student Filmmaker Explores DreamsELLENSBURG, Wash. - While the reason people dream is still a matter of speculation, it's taken as fact that everybody does dream. Some people apparently never recall their dreams while others can recall five or more per night. Central Washington University senior Stefan Scherperel, from Richland, is a self-acknowledged active dreamer. "I've always been interested in dreams and researching them," he says. That interest led to his multimedia presentation "Awake," which will be unveiled Friday, Dec. 2, at the CWU Sarah Spurgeon Gallery in Randall Hall on the Ellensburg campus. It will include six large prints and a 12-minute companion video presentation. "The film is about the interpretation of personal dreams and dreams that can relate to other people," Scherperel adds. "The photos pertain to different interpretations of feelings that occur during dreams." The film was named the best Central Washington film during the Ellensburg film festival in October. It was funded by a CWU Farrell grant. Following a free, public opening reception Friday at 5 p.m., the exhibit will be open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and from Sunday noon to 3 p.m. through Wednesday, Dec. 7.For more information, or for persons of disability to arrange for reasonable accommodation, call (509) 963-2665 or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143.
