ELLENSBURG, Wash. - In preparation for the 2002-03 academic year, the Central Washington University board of trustees (BOT) will gather in Ellensburg, at the President’s Reception Center, for its annual two-day retreat Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 7-8.

On Wednesday, board members will hear reports from:

Dr. David Soltz, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, regarding programs and facilities at the six university centers in Lynnwood, Moses Lake, SeaTac, Steilacoom, Wenatchee and Yakima;

Mark Anderson, director of public relations and marketing, about university marketing efforts; and

Rich Corona, vice president for business and financial affairs, and Shelly Johnson, budget director, concerning implementation of the university’s administrative data management systems.

In addition, trustees will review four of the university’s strategic goals, discuss the university budget and tour the library.

Thursday, the BOT will continue review of the institution’s strategic goals, hear a report about diversity and another about the Student Union and Recreation Center (SUB/REC) project, from Corona and Dr. Charlotte Tullos, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management, and hold an executive session to conduct an evaluation of President Jerilyn S. McIntyre.

During its afternoon session, board members will approve the minutes of a special board meeting held July 16, could consider approval of the next design phase of the SUB/REC project and may make an exempt administrative appointment for the position of vice president of university relations.

For more information about the BOT retreat, call (509) 963-2111 or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-3323.
