ELLENSBURG, Wash. - For the past 14 years, the use of skateboards has been prohibited as a means of transportation on the Central Washington University campus in Ellensburg. That may soon change. A proposal to allow skateboards to be used as a means of “alternative transportation” will be among those discussed during a public hearing to allow for comments on proposed changes to the university’s parking and traffic regulations.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m. in Barge 304. CWU Police Chief Steve Rittereiser will facilitate the meeting, which will focus on increases in parking rates that already have been approved by the CWU board of trustees, procedural changes in managing parking and traffic, along with alternative transportation on the Ellensburg campus.

For additional information, call (509) 963-2111. Persons of disability may arrange for reasonable accommodation by calling (509) 963-2171, or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-2143, by Aug. 26.
