August 23, 2007

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University is proud to participate in National College Colors Day 2007, to be held Aug. 31. Washington Governor Chris Gregoire recently proclaimed Aug. 31 as College Colors Day in the State of Washington.

This event will commence Wildcat Crimson & Black Fridays, supported through CWU Alumni Relations, and Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. CWU students, staff and alumni will be encouraged to wear clothing with the school colors each Friday.

"College Colors Day is a great way to begin the year-long celebration of Wildcat pride, bringing together students, staff and alumni," said Jim Armstrong, Director of Alumni Relations.

College Colors Day, first celebrated on Sept. 2, 2005, coincides with both the beginning of classes and the intercollegiate athletics´ kickoff. It strives to promote higher education in the United States through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities nationwide.

The Collegiate Licensing Company and its consortium of colleges and universities annually organize the national College Colors Day celebration.
