CWU Looks To Create Healthier Environment By Imposing Designated Areas For Tobacco UseApril 26, 2004Contact: Robert Lowery (509-963-1487/fax 509-963-2301/e-mail: loweryr@cwu.edu) ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Central Washington University will conduct a rule-making hearing Wednesday, April 28, at 2 p.m. in Barge 410 concerning proposed new Washington Administrative Code (WAC) rules further regulating tobacco use in-and-around the university's academic and administrative buildings. "Tobacco use" would pertain to all smoking and smokeless tobacco products. Under the proposed rules, use of such substances would be prohibited within 20 feet of administrative or academic buildings, except in areas designated for their use. Persons violating the rules may be subject to fines.
