CWU TO PRESENT ‘PARTNERSHIP IN EXCELLENCE’ AWARDS

April 25, 2002

Contact: Noella Wyatt (509-963-2404/fax 509-963-2787/e-mail: wyattm@cwu.edu)

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Central Washington University’s office of career development services (CDS) will present the 2001-02 “Partnership in Excellence” awards during a free, public ceremony at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 30 in the Samuelson Union Building (SUB) Owhi Room.

Four times during the academic year CDS solicits nominations for student, employee and academic advisor of the quarter, based on their involvement in the cooperative education program. At the end of the year, the individuals that received the quarterly honors are considered for the annual award, according to Noella Wyatt, CDS secretary.

The nominations are based on several factors, including letters of nomination and support from other staff, faculty, co-workers and former students, and consideration of the final report submitted by each student at the end of their internships, Wyatt notes.

This year’s “Partnership in Excellence” award winners are:

  • Student of the year: Jessica Lautz, a political science and law and justice double major who graduated following winter quarter. She is a 1999 graduate of Ellensburg High School.
  • Employer of the year: Nicole McCoy, Kittitas County Conservation District geographical information system (GIS) specialist, who was a former winner of the student of the quarter award, Wyatt adds;
  • Faculty advisor of the year: Nancy Hultquist, CWU geography department, who was also the faculty advisor for McCoy, according to Wyatt.

For more information about the ceremony, or for persons of disability to arrange for reasonable accommodation, call (509) 963-2404, or (for the hearing impaired) TDD (509) 963-3323.
