ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Among the first steps in developing its new integrated marketing campaign, Central Washington University will soon survey several university constituent groups.

Desautel Hege Communications of Spokane and the CWU marketing committee will work in concert through the middle of June to develop an institutional image and branding, and evaluate the university Internet site. The consulting firm specializes in helping organizations communicate through public relations, marketing and education.

"We look forward to working with these consultants and to developing a growth and management plan for Central," Mark Anderson, CWU director of public relations and marketing, says. "The consultant team is young, award-winning and I'm most confident of their ability to work with us to develop these marketing initiatives."

To help focus those initiatives, current and prospective students will be asked to outline their rationale for making a college choice. In addition, the faculty will be solicited for input about how they view CWU. Both groups may also offer feedback about the elements they believe should be included on the university's Web site.

The surveys will be made available through e-mail and in hard-copy form, Anderson points out. They will also be offered via the CWU homepage (www.cwu.edu) to allow for community input. Current and prospective students may enter a drawing for prizes upon completion of the survey.
