32nd Annual 'Career Quest' Slated At CWUApril 15, 2005Contact: Jaqualyn Johnson (509-963-2446/fax 509-963-2418/e-mail: johnsonj@cwu.edu) ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Representatives of about 70 firms - including local, regional and national businesses and corporations, federal and state agencies and graduate schools - will meet with potential employees, interns and graduate students during Central Washington University's Career Quest. The 32nd annual event is slated for Thursday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building (SUB) Cesar Chavez Theatre and Ballroom on the Ellensburg campus. The aim is to provide "an opportunity for students to meet employers face-to-face and apply for jobs and internships with the companies attending the event," Jaqualyn Johnson, director of CWU career services, says. Along with conducting interviews after Career Quest, a number of the employers will stay over another night and hold interviews on Friday. In conjunction with the yearly CWU job and internship fair, students will also get the opportunity to meet and hear from members of "Roadtrip Nation." Roadtrip Nation allows select students to use recreational vehicles on road trips to interview business leaders from across the country to learn about different career opportunities. Their experiences are then shared through a PBS television series, publications and online at www.roadtripnation.com. During a Roadtrip Nation presentation on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SUB Theatre, the crew will use video clips from the show and discuss their own experiences as a way to help, "inspire students to go out and do their own road trips and find out what career paths are best for them," Johnson adds. Central is one of 100 Roadtrip Nation charter schools, which allows qualifying university students to be selected for a Roadtrip Nation all-expenses-paid internship. Along with the evening presentation, a Roadtrip Nation RV will be on display throughout the day at the SUB Amphitheatre.
