CWU Bridge Builder To Be Honored April 25April 12, 2004Contact: Catherine Scarlett (509-963-3083/fax 509-963-2301/e-mail: scarletc@cwu.edu) ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Honoring a relationship of more than 30 years with the university, Central Washington University alumna Gail K. Jones will receive this year's CWU "Bridge Builder Award" during a reception, Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building Ballroom on the Ellensburg campus. The "Bridge Builder" award recognizes those who have made an impact on the CWU scholarship program through their leadership, example and generosity. Jones served as executive director of the CWU Alumni Association from 1977 to 1995. During those 18 years, she aided in the establishment of many scholarships by CWU alumni and friends. In 1995, the CWU Alumni Association honored Jones and her husband, the late Dr. Jerry Jones, by creating the Jerry and Gail Jones Alumni Scholarship for students in the sciences. "Many of our strongest relationships with alumni donors today are a direct result of Gail's work in the 1980s and 90s," Catherine Scarlett, CWU associates and stewardship assistant director, says. "She nurtured relationships and kept our alumni current on campus changes, developments and university needs." Sponsored by the CWU Foundation, Jones' award will be made during the Building Bridges Scholarship reception, which recognizes scholarship recipients, thanks donors and allows recipients and their families an opportunity to meet individuals who made the scholarships possible, Scarlett adds. Also to be honored this year is former scholarship recipient Ozo Jaculewicz, a 1995 CWU graduate in business administration.Jaculewicz now works as a chartered financial analyst and senior vice president at Strong Institutional, a division of Strong Capital Management of Menomonee Falls, Wisc. During his senior year at CWU, he received the Harold Williams Scholarship, named in honor of CWU's former chairman of the department of business and economics. The scholarship recognizes academically meritorious students in accounting, business administration and/or economics.
