Damon Wayans 'In Living Color' At CWU

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 15, at 10 a.m. for an evening of stand-up and improv with multi-talented actor and comedian Damon Wayans, who will be the featured performer at Central Washington University's homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Wayans' long list of television credits include the current ABC hit "My Wife and Kids," "Saturday Night Live" and the critically acclaimed Emmy Award-winning series "In Living Color," for which he received two Emmy nominations and created memorable characters and sketches, including "Homey the Clown" and "Men on Film."

On the big screen, Wayans has starred in a variety of films including "Major Payne," "Blankman," "Bullet Proof," "Mo 'Money," "Beverly Hills Cop" and Spike Lee's "Bamboozled."

But what makes Wayans such a strong live performer is his long-running success as a stand-up comedian starting in the comedy club circuit in the 1980s and now on television in a number of his own HBO specials.

"The fact that he's still performing, not just sitting at home relaxing and taking the check, says a lot," says Scott Drummond, director of Central's campus activities, who spearheaded the effort to bring Wayans to campus. "This guy is sharp, and he's still playing out there on the edges."

Drummond expects a packed house, so he encourages comedy fans to get their tickets as soon as possible. While the show will appeal to all ages, Drummond notes it will be unpredictable.

Tickets are $25 for CWU students, $35 general admission and $45 for reserved floor seating. They are available at the Recreation Ticket Counter in the CWU Samuelson Union Building's recreation ticket counter, Jerrol's Book and Supply Co. in Ellensburg or by phone at (509) 963-3513.
