CWU's CTE, Clymer To Host An Evening With SacagaweaApril 1, 2004Contact: Diana Tasker (509-962-6416) ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- Central Washington University's Central Theatre Ensemble (CTE) will offer a local sneak peek at the upcoming CTE Youth Tour production of "Bird Woman: The Story of Sacagawea," at the Ellensburg Clymer Museum of Art, Friday, April 16, at 6 p.m. The preview is free and open to the public, and teachers are encouraged to attend. It will feature "Bird Woman" director, Trish Bellah, who will describe the process of bringing the historically rich story to life. Costumed cast members will present scenes from the play, and authentic Native American dances will also be performed. In addition, presentations will be made by Scott Robinson, set designer, and CWU students Will Alvin, theatre arts major and costume designer; Tina Perna, theatre arts major and wig and makeup designer; and Kim Berstler, theatre arts major and puppet designer, who also serve as cast members. The Clymer preview will feature another "star" of the 2004 CTE Youth Tour: the paintings of John Clymer. "CTE is thrilled to be working cooperatively with the Clymer Museum of Art in bringing a multi-medium presentation to students," says Brenda Hubbard, CTE producing artistic director. "In addition to the performance, audiences throughout the Northwest will enjoy a series of John Clymer paintings which depict the journey of the Corps of Discovery, including the painting 'Sacajawea at the Big Water,' which is the image being used by CTE for printed materials, including posters and postcards." Following the presentations there will be a question and answer session and refreshments will be served. For more information on the Clymer event, call (509) 962-6416. Ellensburg performances of "Bird Woman: The Story of Sacagawea" are scheduled for April 23 at 7 p.m., April 24 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and April 25 at 1 p.m. All shows will be held in McConnell Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and will go on sale April 12.
