Kids' Programs
Fall 2009: CWU Rock Wall programs for young people. 

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any of these programs and please help us spread the word as climbing is a great activity for the youth of our community.  Sign-up in advanced as spaces for all of these programs are limited. 
All of these programs are open to members of the community.

Kid*s Rock:  This is an introductory opportunity for kids to come use the rock wall for the first time. Participants register for one week at a time and they can come once or they can return every single week. Kid*s Rock is held Sundays from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM and is open to anyone between the ages of 6 and 12 (participants must be accompanied by a parent). This weekly course costs $8.00 for children of Recreation Center members and $12.00 for children of non-members.

 

WALL CRAWLERS: This quarter long program is for young people who want to commit to an eight week progressive climbing course while also building friendships in supportive and active community. Participants of Wall Crawlers will be instructed by staff, learn a new climbing skill each week while being encouraged to climb as much as they can. Wall Crawlers is open to anyone between the ages of 9 and 15. This program will be held on Fridays from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM and will begin on Oct. 9, 2009. The costs for this program continue to be $75.00 for children of Recreation Center members and $95.00 for children of non-members.

 

CLIMB ON!:  This new quarter long program has been formed as a response to all of those Wall Crawlers who have been in the program for a year and are looking for more. CLIMB ON! is an advanced version of Wall Crawlers where participants will focus on more advanced skills. CLIMB ON will be held on Fridays from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and will begin on Oct. 9, 2009. CLIMB ON is open to anyone between the ages of 9 and 15. The costs for this program will also be $75.00 for children of Recreation Center members and $95.00 for children of non-members. (Most participants of Wall Crawlers attend two - three sessions of Wall Crawlers before moving up into the CLIMB ON! Program.)

 

Pre-registration is required for all of these programs.  Every new participant's parent will need to complete a minor climbing wall permission waiver.  This paperwork along with registration information can be located at the front counter access desk in the Student Recreation Center which is located immediately across from the climbing wall.  You may also call in to reserve space for your son or daughter for these programs.  For phone reservations, please call:  (509) 963-3512 and/or register in person at the front counter access desk in the Student Recreation Center.
