Athletic Training

University Recreation offers a unique free service to Recreation Center members. If you are experiencing pain related to an injury, muscle spasms, soreness, joint instability or tendonitis then our Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) can help. A Certified Athletic Trainer is an allied health care professional who specializes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

The athletic training facility in the Recreation Center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to help you recover effectively from injury. Additional services include massage, E-stem, ultrasound, stabilizing exercises, and techniques to enhance flexibility and range of motion. We are located at the north end of the main corridor just past the Basketball courts. Please stop by to sign up for an appointment or call ahead: (509) 963-3550

All our trainers are fully certified and endorsed by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. We also work closely with the Student Health Center to ensure that the proper care is provided for each member, and if needed will refer you to a physician.

Meet Your Athletic Trainer

Ann Wittkopp
trey

Ann Wittkopp is the new athletic trainer for University Recreation. She is a fitness and wellness enthusiast who earned her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Dickinson State University and her Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Montana State University Billings. Ann worked for the last year as an athletic trainer for a physical therapy clinic and high school on Long Island, New York. She has always wanted to work as an athletic trainer in a university setting and is excited to be here in Ellensburg and working with CWU Recreation. Ann comes highly recommended since one of her mentors was previously part of the CWU community.

Ann’s interests include injury prevention and rehabilitation (especially knee rehab), community education and involvement, sports and recreation, and anything to do with health and wellness. She is currently instructing her husband through his second ACL rehabilitation (which is going well!) and they hope to become involved on campus and in the Ellensburg community. They are also excited to take up hiking, now that they live in close proximity to such amazing terrain!

Stop in and see me anytime!  I am excited to meet and help all of the students, faculty, and staff involved in the Recreation Center programs!
