Achieving Fitness Success


The Fitness Team at the Recreation Center believes in the importance of mixing up your training routine, between strength and cardio, and including a healthy diet, to achieve fitness success. By avoiding always doing the same types of training sessions or sticking with the same cardio routine for months at a time, you may stop seeing results and experience reduced motivation. But by participating in strength training, cardio group fitness classes and eating mindfully and nutritiously, you are ensured to develop a balanced body, reduce your risk of overuse injuries and are more likely to avoid burnout.

In our opinion, the three keys to optimal fitness are:

1. Strength Training
2. Cardio Training
3. Healthy Diet

Are you having trouble sticking to a workout plan? Or maybe you're just having trouble kicking those last few pounds from vacation? Our fantastic Fitness Program Assistant, Abby Allen, understands your woes and has created a group fitness log just for you!

Print it out and fill it out each week. Tracking your activity on paper not only helps you to remember to stay active but it also helps you to track exactly how much activity your are performing each week. Most often, we overestimate how active we are... and that's where those extra few pounds come into play. But when we can visually see how often and how hard we are working out, we have a better idea of exactly how many calories we are burning each week. Plus, we're more honest with ourselves (and others!) when our workouts are documented!
