Job Title: Camp C-Woo Counselor
Hourly Pay Rate: $8.55
Department:  University Recreation

Location: SURC Room 175
Need 5-6 students to work 35-40 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks
**(May need some part time help as well)**

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and care of children (Grades 1-5) in an effort to provide a recreational
    environment for children to learn, develop, and grow as individuals.
  • Planning and implementation of daily activities including, but not limited to: arts,
    crafts, sports, snacks, field trips, and presentation of special topics.
  • Ensure the safety of each participant in every activity through careful thought,
    consideration, and risk management.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally to parents about policies, camp information,
    safety procedures, and activity information.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:
  • At least 100 hours experience working with children.
  • Self-starter who has demonstrated maturity and discretion.
  • Must be a team player and have a genuine interest in children.
  • Must be flexible and able to adjust to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to children, staff and parents.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and patience under pressure.
  • irst aid and CPR required. (A class will be offered for staff)

Job Title: Outdoor Pursuits Trip Leaders
Hourly Pay Rate: $8.55 + Dependent upon Experience

Need 4-6 students to work 10-15 hours per week. *Prefer Work-Study *Open to all Students

Outdoor Pursuits Trip Leaders:
Outdoor Pursuits & Rental Shop Trip Leaders will develop and lead outdoor adventure trips, with an emphasis on guiding rafting trips throughout the summer quarter.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparations, implementation, and debriefing of outdoor adventure trips throughout the year.
  • Attend mandatory safety and guide trainings
  • Assist in participant trainings prior to departure of adventure trips.
  • Assist campus community in development of new outdoor programs.
  • Advise customers on locations for recreation-camping, snowshoeing, river floating, etc.
  • Assist in rental shop operations and maintenance of outdoor equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:
  • Ability to communicate well.
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure and time constraints.
  • Ability to work effectively in both individual and group settings.
  • Prior Experience leading groups in the outdoors.
  • Current Basic First Aid and CPR Certifications.  Advanced First Aid or Wilderness First Responder preferred.

Job Title: Challenge Course Facilitator

Need up to 14 to work 10-15 hours a week during Summer Quarter. *Prefer Work-Study

Challenge Course Facilitator:
The Challenge Course Facilitator will prepare programs for groups using the Challenge Course.  The Challenge Course Facilitator will prepare and maintain all Challenge Course equipment, as well as the Challenge Course storage facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement Challenge Course programs for small or large groups.
  • Perform site assessments before programs to help ensure safety.
  • Monitor Challenge Course participants for safety and positive group dynamics.
  • Process group experiences after the completion of Challenge Course events.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:

  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Able to adapt plans to accommodate needs of group.
  • Experience with Challenge Course facilitation.
